design

I have produced a number of reports and graphics using InDesign and Photoshop. Below are some samples of my work.

On the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assasination, a coalition of labor unions hosted a commemoration rally in Memphis that also marked the I AM A MAN sanitation workers strike that Dr. King was helping to lead. As part of the all-day, citywide event, the Jewish Labor Committee held a ‘labor Seder’ at a temple that had served as a staging ground for the strike and related protests. I was commissioned to design the Haggadah for the Seder, which hosted union leaders and the U.S. Labor Secretary.

For this report on working conditions of food workers in the City University of New York system, I created the campaign logo on the front page, took pictures of workers, collected photos of CUNY locations, and designed the final report.

For this report on the New York City Economic Development Corporation (EDC), I designed the front cover and created the layout.

For this report on the private equity takeover of the music equipment retailer Guitar Center, I designed a unique aesthetic to match the union organizing campaign, which included many workers who were also musicians and had public support from several well-known bands. As part of this campaign, I also produced a video criticizing the company’s Pro Coverage warranty program.

This report explores how customer service at the art supply retailer Utrecht was undermined by the provate equity firm that took it over. I designed the cover and layout with an art supply aesthetic. (Only the cover is available for public viewing).

As the person in charge of design at a national labor union, I put together several options for a button that workers wore to show their support for the union.
